40 Best Free Things to do in Paris.

The best things in life are free. Thus, best things to do in Paris are free too. Now, let me list down 50 best free things to do in the city of light!

1. Watch all the love birds put a lock on “Pont des Arts” a.k.a. the “Love Bridge” and watch the authorities saw it off.  
2. Don’t just go to Le Marais for falafel! Get lost in the historic streets looking for Victor Hugo’s house
3. Read a book at the setting. For example, read The Hunchback of Notre Dame in front of the Notre Dame. 
4. There is a Chinese pagoda just a stone throw away from Champs-Elysées, called La Pagoda, which is free to visit. 
5. Marvel at skyscrapers at La Défense. The architecture and style here are so different from the rest of the city, you’ll think that you’ve already left Paris. 
6. Visit the Promenade Plantée, a park built on an elevated formal train track. It is 4,5 kilometers long. 
7. See the graves of Jim Morrison, Frederic Chopin and others in Père-Lachaise Cemetery
8. People watch anywhere anytime. The street of Paris is like a fashion T-stage where Parisians cat-walk with sophisticated outfits. 
9. Meet some Paris Greeters, and see the city through the eyes of the locals. 
10. Follow the Discover Walks to see the main sights, going through several neighborhoods in Paris; 
11. The Sandeman’s New Europe takes you to the most famous landmarks and keeps you entertained with facts and stories. 
12. On Friday Nights, watch as the locals meet up for “Pari Roller”, a weekly skating (on Roller Blades) sports event leaving from Place Raoul Dautry in the 14th Arrondissement to Montparnasse. 
13. Cycling is a great way to explore Paris. Rent a Bike with the Vélib’ bike rental system, rides below 30 minutes are free. What we did was finding a bike stand every 25 minutes and since they are dotted throughout the city, it is not hard to find one in every corner. 
14. Take the metro, not only to go from place A to place B. Take a minute to appreciate the stations. Technically free as you nee to travel on the metro anyway.

15. If you plan to hit the famous Museums like the Louvre, plan your Paris trip on the first Sunday of the month for free admission (October through March only). Same goes to other paid Museums and galleries such as the Musee d'Orsay, the Centre Pompidou, the Musee Rodin…
16. If you can’t make it on the 1st Sunday of the month, they are still a lot of free museum to visit. For example, the Musee Carnavalet, the Musee d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, the Musée Carnavalet and the Fragonard Perfume Museum.
17. In early October, all museums in Paris participate in Nuit Blanche, opening the doors to welcome visitors all night.   
18. Picnic in a park and make some new friends. The classic places to do it are the Jardin du Luxembourg or Champ de Marc. 
19. Looking for treasures at the flea markets. Bring out the Ariel in you.

21. Visit a church, for example, the Notre Dame or/and Sacre Coeur. You don’t have to pay a cent to marvel at the stained glass and exquisite altars. 
22. No trip to Paris is complete without a leisure walk along the river Seine
23. Visit a morning market and have fun sampling high-quality goat cheese and fresh fruits… free samples everywhere!
24. Window shopping at the Champs Elysees. 
25. Every Sunday there is a free dancing (to old French songs) event on the Left Bank.

28. Turn out for the free fashion show on the 7th floor in Lafayette. (Monday and Friday at 3pm)
29. In the summer, the river bank of Seine turns into a beach (Paris Plage). 
30. Free ice skating rinks are a common sight in Paris during winter time. 
31. Attend a Free organ recital at Notre Dame, Sundays at 4:30 p.m. 
32. Attend a choir rehearsal each Sunday morning at 9:45 a.m. at Sacré-Coeur. 
33. Enjoy the many free street performances especially on 21st June, La Fête de la Musique. 
34. Hang out with the locals 'til the sun goes down at Canal St-Martin (between République and Gare du Nord) with a bottle of wine. 
35. Visit Brancusi’s recreated workshop, Atelier Brancusi, in front of the Centre Pompidou. 
36. There is a lesser known Roman amphitheater in the Latin Quarter— Arènes de Lutèce.
37. Visit Rue Mouffetard on a Saturday where it becomes a huge food market. 
38. Le Petit Ney, a café in Montmartre, organizes free board game sessions for teenagers and adults. 
39. Paris Rando Vélo organizes free Friday night bike tours of Paris. The tour starts from Hotel de Ville at 9:30 p.m. 
40. Visit the Versailles Gardens for free (except on Sundays when the musical fountains are operating).
